Extra Bet Blackjack

A simple modification designed to elevate the thrill of blackjack while strategically increasing your table's hold.

=Game Play=

The Rules

One card is dealt to each player.
If that first card is a ten value card (10, J, Q or K) The player can then make the Extra Bet.
The Extra Bet is made before the dealer draws their first card. This is when the player has a significant advantage to win the hand, 14.45%.
The player must pay a 20% commission (vig) for the Extra Bet. Once the bet has been made and the vig is paid, it becomes part of the principle bet.
The Blackjack hand then plays out the rest of the way as per Blackjack rules.

Example Bets

example Bet 1: the player has a principle bet of $5, the house rules state that you may increase your bet up to 5x the amount of your principle bet.

a $5 bet could place an Extra Bet of up to $25, paying the house a 20% commission to do so.

Example Bet 2: the player has a principle bet of $10, the house rules state that you may increase your bet up to the the table max $500, for example.

a $10 bet could place an Extra Bet of up to $500, paying the house a 20% commission to do so.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this will change from property to property.

The Details

-House edge is 5.55% w/traditional blackjack rules.

-The player can Bet up to 5x their bet

-All Bets must be placed in increments of 5

-The Extra Bet Requires a vigorish of 20%

Case Study

The game was first offered in Palms Casino in Managua, Nicaragua in February 2014.

After Extra Bet was put on the tables, the response was truly incredible. It increased the drop over 50%. It also increased the hold significantly and has continued to do so for over two years.

The client base contains several demographics and they were all playing it.

The hold on Blackjack went from approximately 14% to over 20%
